Like Harry, Percy tangles with computer-generated creatures, some of whom are good - an iridescent seafaring Hippocampus - and some evil, as in the fire-breathing, metal Colchis bull. Percy is the half-human son of Poseidon, and the supporting cast of mythical-human teens features Hermione and Ron surrogates. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (* * out of four rated PG opens Wednesday nationwide) comes by the resemblance unsurprisingly, since its executive producer is Chris Columbus, director of the first two Harry Potter movies.
